European Sculpture and Works of Art

Overview

European Sculpture and Works of Art is one of the most diverse collecting fields handled by Sotheby's. The Works of Art forming this collecting area are predominately three-dimensional, are either carved, cast or modeled in marble, wood, stone, ivory, bronze, terracotta, plaster and range from the 10th century to 1900. The department also includes early enamels, Renaissance jewelry and, in New York, Italian Renaissance Ceramics (or maiolica) and European Tapestries.

This variety of objects is presented in an exciting range of sales held internationally throughout the year: in London (in European Sculpture and Works of Art auctions), New York (in European Works of Art, Old Master Paintings and French Furniture auctions), in Paris and Amsterdam (the latter two in European Furniture auctions).
