Overview

In 2002, Sotheby's New York, in association with Stack's, set a new world record price for a coin when it sold the 1933 Gold Double Eagle for $7,590,000. Since 2001, Sotheby's London Coin and Medal Department has been replaced by an association with a new company formed by James Morton and Tom Eden, both of whom are former directors of Sotheby's, London.
