Overview

The Antique Arms, Armour & Militaria department now operates under the title 'Thomas Del Mar Ltd in association with Sotheby's'. The sales will continue on a similar biannual basis and include a large range of objects from all over the world, from the earliest times to the early 20th Century. Sales include edged weapons from the Bronze Age to the early 20th Century; early firearms from match and wheel-locks to percussion revolvers; Gothic, Renaissance and later armour; cannon, crossbows, powder-flasks, hunting accessories, and military uniforms, buttons, badges and helmets.

The specialist staff continue to work closely with Sotheby's departments, most recently assisting with the dispersal of the Antique Arms, Armour & Militaria from the Royal House of Hanover which sold for a total of € 7,024,656 (£4,764,004 and $8,392,610), and now stands as a World Auction Record for an Ancestral Collection in this field.
