Overview

Sotheby's 19th Century Paintings department offers Greek Paintings and Sculpture from 1800 to the present in their dedicated Greek Sales. Since Sotheby's began holding these specialist sales in London in October 2001, we have offered more than 1500 lots, achieving a combined sale total of £60 million (67.1 million Euros) and establishing world record prices for more than forty Greek artists. These include record prices for works by Theodoros Rallis, Constantinos Parthenis, Constantinos Volonakis, Nikolaos Gysis, Spyros Papaloukas, Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, Nikiforos Lytras and Alecos Fassianos amongst others.

Regularly featured in our Greek Sales are works by Volanakis, Gysis, Parthenis, Akrithakis, Fassianos and Tsarouchis.
