Overview

The Sotheby's Middle East Department holds a variety of sales each year, covering both traditional and Modern & Contemporary arts from the Middle East and wider region. Our two annual Arts of the Islamic World sales feature a wide range of manuscripts in Arabic, Persian and Turkish as well as miniatures, paintings, ceramics, metalwork, arms and armour, glass, jewellery and other decorative objects, including Indian works of art from the Mughal and Deccani Courts. These auctions take place alongside sales of rugs, carpets and textiles organised by the Rugs & Carpets Department.

Additionally, each year we hold a Modern & Contemporary Arab and Iranian Art sale in October, featuring important works by leading artists from across the region.
